About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join our team, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the smooth operation of our attendance and punctuality policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the attendance team, providing guidance and support to attendance officers
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve attendance and punctuality rates
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to review and refine attendance policies and procedures
  • Monitor attendance and punctuality data, identifying trends and areas for improvement
  • Communicate with parents and carers to resolve attendance issues and promote good attendance practices
  • Work closely with the Educational Welfare Officer to ensure effective intervention and support for students with attendance concerns
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local agencies and partners to support student attendance and well-being
  • Contribute to the development of attendance and punctuality reports and presentations
  • Participate in staff training and development to enhance attendance and punctuality practices
Requirements
  • Qualifications to degree standard or equivalent
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft software and management information systems
  • Experience of working in an inner-city school or educational establishment
  • Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures, including attendance codes and social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
  • Experience of managing attendance systems and working with young people, including those with challenging behavior
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
