Main Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the attendance team, ensuring that attendance targets are met, and collaborating with senior leaders to develop and implement attendance and punctuality policies. Key duties will include:
- Line managing attendance officers and providing guidance and support as needed
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality, identifying trends and areas for improvement
- Collaborating with the Academy Welfare Manager to make home visits and establish reasons for absences
- Communicating with parents and carers to address attendance concerns and provide support
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the computerized registration system and maintaining accurate attendance records
- Preparing and distributing attendance certificates and reports
- Developing and implementing strategies to improve attendance and punctuality
Requirements
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional with a strong background in attendance and welfare. The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualifications to degree standard or equivalent
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft software and Management Information Systems
- Experience of working in an inner-city school or educational establishment
- Knowledge of attendance policies and procedures, including attendance codes and social issues facing students from disadvantaged backgrounds
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on student well-being and academic achievement
