We are seeking a highly skilled Human Factors expert to join our team at the Ministry of Defence. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a forward-thinking organisation that values innovation and excellence.

Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Human Factors advice and expertise to support the optimisation of Defence systems. This will involve working closely with stakeholders across the Defence organisation, including military and civilian personnel, to understand their needs and develop effective solutions.

About the Role

This role requires a high level of scientific and technical knowledge, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a similar field, preferably in a defence or related industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Human Factors advice and expertise to support the optimisation of Defence systems
  • Work closely with stakeholders across the Defence organisation to understand their needs and develop effective solutions
  • Develop and implement Human Factors strategies and plans to improve the safety and efficiency of Defence systems
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform Human Factors decisions and recommendations
  • Collaborate with other teams and departments to ensure effective delivery of Human Factors initiatives

Requirements

  • Chartered membership of either the British Psychological Society (BPS) or the Chartered Institute of Human Factors and Ergonomics (CIEHF)
  • Postgraduate qualification in Ergonomics or Psychology
  • Experience of working in a similar field, preferably in a defence or related industry
  • Excellent scientific and technical knowledge
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £43,080 per annum, plus benefits including a pension scheme, annual leave, and access to training and development opportunities.

Working Environment

The successful candidate will be based at the Ministry of Defence, Alverstoke, Hampshire. The role may require occasional travel within the UK and overseas, which may include overnight stays on land and possibly at sea.
