About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Birtwistles Food Group. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our plant and equipment, ensuring that all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with best practice and company policies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement maintenance schedules to ensure optimal plant performance and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance activities to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Manage external contractors and ensure that all work is completed to the required standard and within agreed timescales.
  • Develop and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including schedules, reports, and certifications.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with business objectives and priorities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and external contractors.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces, with a willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required.
  • Valid certification in relevant areas, such as electrical or mechanical engineering.
