About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Cancer Support Worker to join our Colorectal Services team at Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting patients undergoing a colorectal cancer diagnostic pathway, those with a cancer diagnosis, and individuals living with and beyond cancer.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with clinicians, specialist nurses, and administration staff to ensure patients receive active management and support throughout their cancer journey.
  • Provide personalized care and support, escalating concerns regarding psychological wellbeing and management as needed.
  • Coordinate follow-up investigations, track patient needs, and facilitate timely imaging and endoscopies.
  • Develop key working relationships with the Colorectal Team, Multi-disciplinary team, and tertiary cancer centres.
  • Support the development of survivorship and wellbeing services, promoting patient empowerment and self-management strategies.
Requirements
  • Full range of administrative experience, with a proven track record of service improvement.
  • Experience of computer systems and ability to work in a team.
  • Methodical and logical approach, with excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, deal sensitively with all contacts, and maintain confidentiality.
