About the Role

The Community Maternity Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting the community midwifery team in delivering high-quality care to women and their babies in the antenatal and postnatal periods.

As a Community Maternity Support Worker, you will provide direct care to women and their babies, focusing on education around good parenting models and enabling women and their partners to care for their babies independently and effectively.

You will work collaboratively with the community midwifery team to ensure excellent care and achieve a high standard of care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct care to women and their babies
  • Developing knowledge and understanding of the needs of the newborn baby
  • Assisting women in their chosen method of infant feeding
  • Assisting the community midwives with antenatal clinics and Parent Education Classes
  • Alerting appropriate personnel to Safeguarding concerns
