About the Role

The Community Maternity Support Worker plays a vital role in supporting the community midwifery team in delivering high-quality care to women and their babies in the antenatal and postnatal periods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct care to women and their babies, focusing on education and enabling them to care for their babies independently and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with the community midwifery team to achieve a high standard of care.
  • Develop knowledge and understanding of the needs of newborn babies and provide practical support to mothers with their care.
  • Assist women in their chosen method of infant feeding and support the community midwives with antenatal clinics and Parent Education Classes.
  • Alert appropriate personnel to Safeguarding concerns and develop relevant clerical and IT skills to support the needs of the community midwifery team.
Person Specification
  • Care Certificate
  • UK Driving License
  • Experience in a role involving caring for others or providing customer services
  • Flexible in their attitudes and behaviours to support team working and delivery of objectives
  • Understanding of the role of the Community Maternity Support Worker
