We are seeking a skilled Desktop Support Engineer to join our team at Shared Services Connected Ltd. As a key member of our 2nd line team, you will play a crucial role in delivering an interconnected on-premises technology solution.

This is an excellent opportunity for 1st line engineers looking to progress their careers or for those returning to the IT industry after a career break. You will have the chance to work with the latest technologies and contribute to the success of our clients in the Aerospace, Defence, and Security sectors.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo advanced UK security vetting clearance. The role is office-based in Gloucester, with an on-call rota of 1 week in 6, 24/7.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical support of a Windows desktop solution, including fixing and problem/defect root cause analysis
  • Management of virtual desktop infrastructures hosted within Citrix XenDesktop
  • Test and release Windows desktop security patches
  • Creation and maintenance of Windows desktop automated builds (MDT & SCCM)
  • Maintenance of AD Group Policies
  • Handle customer problems promptly
  • Take part in a 24/7 call-out rota and work some evenings and weekends if necessary

Requirements:

  • Understanding of patch management and ability to deploy patches
  • Experience in MS Exchange, VMWare, Citrix VDI, Remote access/VPNs, Windows Server 2019/22 (AD/GPO/PowerShell) and Windows 10
  • Understanding of computer networks
  • Understanding of firewalls, proxies, SIEM, antivirus, and IDPS concepts
  • ITIL V4

Desirable Skills:

  • CCA-V/CCA-P
  • Experience supporting & upgrading Windows 10 Operating Systems
  • Experience supporting App-V packages and Full App-V Infrastructure
  • Software packaging and deployment experience
  • Experience with MS MECM
  • UE-V Administration
