Insurance Underwriting Team Leader

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Team Leader to join our team in Brighton. As a key member of our Underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing a team of underwriters to deliver high-quality underwriting decisions and advice to support the delivery of our Underwriting strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the Underwriting team to deliver on team and individual objectives, ensuring sustainable profitable growth and retention of business in accordance with our Underwriting strategy and in line with our Business Plan.
- Contributing to the monitoring and reviewing of systems and processes and supporting the implementation of initiatives to improve team capability and performance.
- Planning, prioritizing, and managing individual and team workflow effectively to deliver outstanding service.
- Setting and monitoring individual and team targets on an annual, weekly, and daily basis to maximize team performance and meet objectives.
- Managing team performance in line with our Underwriting capability framework, supporting team members to identify and address development needs and ensuring appropriate stretch.
- Dealing effectively with escalations within the team, working with other underwriting teams where relevant.
- Ensuring that appropriate risk management frameworks are embedded within the team.
- Identifying and resolving all escalated customer complaints in line with regulatory/company guidelines.
- Providing managerial support by acting flexibly across the areas of the business, providing customer support.
- Managing a caseload of underwriting work to undertake, which may fluctuate with team requirements.
- Providing project support as required.
- Undertaking effective recruitment processes.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Minimum Dip CII qualified or working towards within an agreed timeframe.
- Experience of managing a successful underwriting/customer service team within Insurance/Financial services.
- Confident and influential communicator with the ability to negotiate at all levels.
- Experience of effective stakeholder management within a commercial environment.
- Experience of analyzing data and MI reporting.
