Technical Underwriting Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Underwriting Specialist to join our team at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our insurance policies are designed and delivered to meet the needs of our customers.
Your primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain underwriting guides, procedures, and policies to support the delivery of our underwriting strategy. You will also act as a specialist referral point and coach, providing guidance and support to our underwriting team on procedures, policy wordings, reinsurance, and audit recommendations.
In addition, you will be responsible for drafting and reviewing policy wordings, summaries of cover, application forms, and clauses to ensure compliance with legal, reinsurance, and regulatory parameters. You will also develop and review products as required by the business, including wordings, product development, and governance.
Other key responsibilities include researching issues connected with policy wording development, working in partnership with the underwriting team to enable underwriting of quality business within appetite and individual UW licence, and conducting audits and acting as a quality and development representative for UW and reinsurance matters.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a proven track record and detailed knowledge of general insurance principles through reinsurance, underwriting, or claims experience. You will also need to have proven analysis skills and the ability to submit balanced and well-considered recommendations.
