About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team at Ecclesiastical Insurance Group. As an Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in developing, negotiating, and profitably underwriting new and existing business within your authority and in line with our strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and negotiate new and existing business within your authority and in line with our strategy
  • Plan, prioritize, and manage your work to deliver agreed objectives and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to deliver exceptional customer service
  • Use effective communication methods to support our right-first-time approach and maintain successful internal and external relationships
  • Provide training and referral support to underwriting assistants and customer administration support colleagues
  • Act on individual audit results and agreed action plans within agreed deadlines to improve your performance
  • Understand and operate within regulatory frameworks and identify and escalate any risks to the business
  • Identify and act upon complaints in line with company policy
  • Improve the quality of underwriting and risk selection to support the delivery of financial objectives
  • Expand your technical and niche knowledge through informal and formal means, such as networking, internet research, industry press, in-house training, and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
Requirements
  • Qualified Cert CII or commitment to achieve within an agreed timescale
  • Commercial underwriting experience, particularly in property and liability
  • Market, industry, and company knowledge
  • A proven track record of delivering exceptional customer service
  • Appropriate IT skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
