Job Title: Children & Young People Officer

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate advocate to join our team as a Children & Young People Officer. This exciting opportunity will enable you to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families in Torbay.

About the Role

This fixed-term position will cover a maternity leave and is an excellent chance to gain experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. As a Children & Young People Officer, you will be responsible for promoting participation and engagement among children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard and valued.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver participation groups, feedback activities, and schemes of direct work to maximize engagement and participation.
  • Work collaboratively with children, young people, parents, and families to involve and include them in service design and delivery.
  • Support the Council's Corporate Parenting and SEND Strategy by delivering a high-quality offer to promote and enable children and young people's engagement and participation.
  • Build effective relationships with a wide range of organizations and individuals to ensure the needs of local young people are met.
Requirements
  • Educated to GCSE O Level standard at Grade C or above or equivalent.
  • Experience of working in a health, education, or social care environment with children and young people.
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to deliver training and presentations.
  • Ability to engage positively with children, young people, and their parents.
  • Understanding of the needs of local young people, including those who are cared for or care experienced and/or have a special educational need and disability.
