We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Participation Officer to join our team at Torbay Council. As a key member of our Children's Services team, you will play a vital role in promoting the participation of children and young people, parents and carers, and families across Torbay.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work with us to ensure that the voices and views of children and families are integral to the ongoing development and review of our services. You will be responsible for designing and supporting participation groups, feedback activities, and schemes of direct work that maximize the potential for children and families to engage with our services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement participation strategies that promote the involvement of children and young people, parents and carers, and families in service design and delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners to ensure that participation is a core aspect of our services.
  • Design and deliver training and support to colleagues and partners on participation principles and practices.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote participation and engagement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of participation initiatives and make recommendations for improvement.
Requirements
  • Experience of working with children and young people, parents and carers, and families in a health, education, or social care environment.
  • Ability to engage positively with children, young people, and their families, and to build effective relationships with a wide range of organizations and individuals.
  • Understanding of participation and engagement principles, and the ability to apply this knowledge in practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Ability to produce and maintain accurate records and reports.
