Learning Support Specialist for PE Department

Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic Learning Support Assistant to work within the PE department in an alternative provision school for Key Stage 3 students.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work closely with the PE department to support students in physical activities and sports, encouraging their active participation.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and delivering tailored sports sessions that engage students of all abilities.
- Help students develop teamwork, discipline, and personal responsibility through physical education.
- Manage and de-escalate challenging behavior, creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Build trusting relationships with students, helping them feel supported, valued, and comfortable in their surroundings.
Requirements and Qualifications
- An interest in sports and physical education, with experience in coaching or a similar role being highly desirable.
- Experience working with young people who have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
- Ability to manage and support students displaying challenging behavior in a calm, understanding manner.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with students.
Salary Information
Estimated salary: £25,000 - £30,000 per annum (dependent on location and experience).
