Consultant Neurosurgeon

Job Summary
The University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled neurosurgeon to join its team. The ideal candidate will be fully competent in neurosurgery and have a strong track record of clinical development and expertise.
Main Duties
The successful candidate will be based at the Neurosurgery department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and will be fully involved in neurosurgical services. They will participate as a leading member of the multidisciplinary team for the assessment, management, and follow-up of patients with neurosurgery conditions (cranial). The appointed candidate will be expected to perform on-call emergency and urgent neurosurgical work and participate in the neurotrauma service.

Person Specification
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and experience:
- GMC Registration
- Inclusion on the Specialist Register for neurosurgery or, if in training, eligible for inclusion on the Register within 6 months
- FRCS or equivalent
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing on-call emergency and urgent neurosurgical work
- Participating in the neurotrauma service
- Leading a neurotrauma team
- Participating in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching
- Encouraged to participate in clinical research
