Kings College Hospital is one of the UK's largest and busiest teaching hospitals, with a turnover of £1 billion.

This is an exciting new role that has been established to support the expansion of the Rheumatology Pharmacy team. The post holder will work with the Principal Pharmacist for Planned Medicine and Rheumatology MDT to establish outpatient clinics and develop/streamline processes for initiating and maintaining patients on biologics.

The successful candidate will provide pharmacist-led clinics, lead a Virtual Biologics Clinic for patients initiating new therapies, and ensure that Medicines Optimisation opportunities are realised.

Main Responsibilities
  • Act as a specialist role model and an expert in the medical management within Rheumatology.
  • Lead and manage clinical pharmacy services in Rheumatology in conjunction with the Principal Pharmacist.
  • Participate regularly in outpatient clinics to deliver and promote high-quality, cost-effective, and patient-focused pharmaceutical care.
  • Promote safe drug use within the Rheumatology specialty.
  • Development, implementation, and audit of local guidelines.
  • Regular financial reporting, drug usage, and expenditure forecasting.

The salary for this role is estimated to be around £62,000-£68,000 per annum, depending on experience.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced pharmacist to join our team as a Specialist Clinical Pharmacy Lead in Rheumatology. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hospital pharmacy, with experience of working in the outpatient setting and/or with Rheumatology patients. Extensive training will be provided during the induction period and on an ongoing basis.
