About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Liaison Practitioner to join our Psychiatric Liaison Service at King George Hospital, Redbridge. As a key member of our team, you will provide comprehensive psychosocial and emergency mental health assessments to patients in crisis, engaging challenging and/or acutely disturbed individuals in potentially hostile and antagonistic situations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive psychosocial and emergency mental health assessments to patients in crisis.
  • Engage challenging and/or acutely disturbed individuals in potentially hostile and antagonistic situations.
  • Arrange appropriate inpatient admission via the correct pathways where required.
  • Monitor a small caseload of clients occasionally.
  • Participate in clinical supervision and promote best practice.
  • Keep the Clinical Lead and the Service Manager informed of developments, incidents, etc.
  • Initiate and participate in audit and/or quality improvement projects associated with the work of the Psychiatric Liaison Service.
Requirements
  • RMN qualification.
  • Degree in a relevant field.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Experience in acute crisis and psychiatric liaison services.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, especially when handling conflict and change.
  • Ability to cope with highly emotionally stressful situations on a day-to-day basis.
  • Experience working within liaison services/assessment within the A&E Department/General Hospital.
  • Risk assessment and management within crisis services.
