About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a pioneering project providing holistic support for young people who have been cared for by the Emergency Department or Crisis Line following mental health difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build an understanding of the needs of each family to design and deliver support plans that might include one-to-one support for the young person, one-to-one support for caregivers, or collaborative work with other supporters such as school.
  • Link into the family's existing network of support.
  • Complete effective recording and monitoring of casework.
  • Apply safeguarding systems and policy as appropriate within local area safeguarding policy.
  • Escalate mental health concerns to relevant health-based services (CAMHS).
Our Approach

We work in partnership with the Emergency Department, Health, and CAMHS practitioners. We also take an active lead in working with other community or voluntary organisations to achieve the best outcomes for Children, Young People, and their families.

Our Aims
  • Deliver short/medium-term support designed to build a sense of wellbeing and resilience within families and improve the mental wellbeing of Children and Young People.
  • Reduce pressure on the NHS Emergency Department and Paediatric Ward.
  • Reduce repeat attendances in Emergency Department for Children & Young People with mental health presentations, including self-harm.
  • Provide additional capacity and support to the local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service Crisis Team.
