Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team at NHS Derby and Derbyshire Integrated Care Board. As a Pharmacy Technician - Medicines Optimisation Specialist, you will play a crucial role in delivering prescribing-related cost efficiencies across Derbyshire.

Main Responsibilities

Working closely with GP practices, you will:

  • Deliver prescribing-related cost efficiencies in line with agreed standard operating procedures
  • Provide education, advice, and support to practices and care homes to improve the safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness of patient care
  • Retrieve, analyse, interpret, and present patient-related prescribing and clinical data from practice clinical computer systems and written notes
  • Implement prescribing changes and inform patients, practice staff, and local communities
  • Liaise with GPs, secondary care, community social care, community pharmacy, patients, and carers to deliver medicines optimisation

Person Specification

We are looking for a Pharmacy Technician with:

  • Education to degree level in a relevant subject or equivalent level of experience
  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
  • Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Demonstrable post-qualification experience in hospital, primary care, or community pharmacy
