Position Overview

An exceptional opportunity has emerged to become a vital member of the Pharmacy Team at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This role involves engaging with our innovative mental health inpatient wards and Community Mental Health Teams.

We are seeking a dedicated Senior Pharmacy Medicine Management Coordinator to contribute to the pharmacy department's commitment to delivering safe, effective, and responsive pharmaceutical supply services.

As we transition to our state-of-the-art mental health facility, which includes multiple wards at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and an Older Adult Ward at Walton Hospital, your role will be crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of our services.

All responsibilities will be performed under the guidance of Registered Medicine Management Technicians, while you will be expected to operate independently in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures to guarantee compliance with safe medicine supply standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure the continuous supply of medications to wards and community mental health teams, maintaining high standards of patient care and pharmacy compliance.
  • Collaborate with community mental health teams to ensure timely completion of Polarspeed prescriptions.
  • Oversee the execution of pharmacy governance audits, ensuring they are conducted every three months as per the pharmacy schedule.
  • Assist ward and community teams in organizing and maintaining pharmacy records and resources, including delivery notes and informational materials.
  • Address inquiries regarding the supply and availability of medications.
  • Provide support to the dispensary and distribution operations at Kingsway Hospital.
  • Travel independently between various sites, with travel expenses reimbursed.

Job Requirements

Applicants must possess a GPhC approved level 2 Pharmacy Support Worker qualification along with GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths, and dual award science.

Significant experience in a pharmacy setting is essential, with the ability to mentor and train junior healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in Pharmacy Services.
  • GCSEs in English, Maths, and Double Science at grade C or above.

Experience

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in a pharmacy environment.
  • Experience in managing day-to-day pharmacy operations.
  • Desirable: Familiarity with stock audits and various computer applications.
