We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced pharmacist to lead our clinical pharmacy services in the Diabetes and Endocrine specialty at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on the safe and effective use of medicines in this specialty.
Main Responsibilities- Lead Clinical Pharmacy Services: You will be responsible for leading the provision and development of clinical pharmacy services in the Diabetes and Endocrine specialty, working closely with the endocrine multidisciplinary team.
- Medicines Management: You will be responsible for the processing of requests for new medicines within the specialty and care unit, advising on the review of the Medicines Formulary, and facilitating the development and implementation of medicine-related guidelines.
- Education and Training: You will support the education and training agenda in upskilling trust staff in their knowledge and practice relating to safe use of insulins, and provide training to care unit/speciality staff.
- Quality Governance: You will participate in clinical audit and other initiatives aimed at assuring high-quality prescribing and pharmacy practice, within the context of Quality Governance.
- Leadership and Collaboration: You will work closely with the endocrine multidisciplinary team, attending appropriate specialty meetings to ensure that pharmaceutical issues are considered, and lead the review of medicines-related incidents within the specialty and care unit.
- Qualifications: Degree, Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, and Independent Prescriber qualification.
- Experience: 2 years post-registration experience in an acute hospital setting, with experience and knowledge in diabetes and endocrinology, and CPD and knowledge of NICE guidelines in diabetes/endocrinology.
- Skills and Knowledge: Wide-ranging clinical skills and knowledge, leadership skills, teaching and presentation skills, organisational skills, and awareness of current issues in medicines optimisation.
- Strong Communication Skills: Strong communication, influencing, and negotiating skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Resilience and Reliability: Resilient, reliable, and conscientious, with a positive attitude to change.
