About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team in the Secondary Breast Care department. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients diagnosed with secondary breast cancer and their relatives and carers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individual care plans for patients with secondary breast cancer.
  • Provide an interface between patients/carers and the multi-disciplinary team, developing nursing practices and identifying opportunities to improve quality of patient care.
  • Co-ordinate and support clinics, prioritising all referrals from MDT.
  • Lead in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care.
  • Identify and refer breast patients for psychological/physio/dietetic support as needed.
  • Exercise leadership and inspire colleagues to improve standards and quality of care.
  • Participate in the development of the individual care pathway for the patient with secondary breast cancer.
  • Undertake and facilitate nursing research and audit reporting findings to the multi-professional team.

Requirements

  • NMC registration.
  • First level degree, or equivalent qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Relevant clinical experience in Breast Cancer and/or Oncology.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of policies, practices and procedures NHS national policies, standards requirements and directions that relate to patient care.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of personalised care.
  • Demonstrates an ability to prioritise own workload.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently.
