We are seeking an experienced Residential Care Team Leader to join our team at Mary Hare School in West Berkshire. As a key member of our childcare team, you will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of care staff in providing high-quality care and education to our deaf children and young people.

About Us

Mary Hare School is a national centre of excellence for deaf education, educating 240 profoundly deaf children at its residential school in West Berkshire. We pride ourselves on our pupils' achievements at GCSE, A Level, and vocational courses. Our holistic approach to care involves carrying schoolwork into out-of-school life, with a strong emphasis on communication between staff, parents, and students.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support a team of care staff in providing high-quality care and education to our deaf children and young people.
  • Develop and implement effective shift management strategies to ensure a smooth operation of the residential houses.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to deliver exceptional care and educational outcomes for our students.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to residential care.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Diploma Level 3 in children and young people or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience working in residential childcare, preferably in a supervisory or shift leadership role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying up-to-date with best practices in residential childcare.
