About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team at Devon County Council. As an Approved Mental Health Practitioner, you will play a critical role in providing an essential response to urgent requests for assessments under the Mental Health Act.

Main Responsibilities

  • Triaging and prioritizing workloads to make decisions on carrying out assessments in line with Devon County Council's statutory responsibilities.
  • Working alongside a separate Emergency Duty Service (EDS) to respond to Children and Adult referrals in an out-of-hours joint social care team.
  • Implementing specialist service models for our three core EDS services (Adults, Children's and Mental Health) to provide an improved, streamlined way of partnership working.
  • Managing a team of professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality services to those in need.

Requirements

  • Registered qualified professional (Social Work, Nurse, OT, psychologist)
  • Currently authorized as an AMHP (Post-Grad Certificate in Mental Health)
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to apply, a range of complex and specialist legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Care Act, Children Act and other relevant case law)
  • Valid driving license
  • Experience of working independently undertaking MHA assessments
  • Experience of working in multi-disciplinary settings
