**About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Nuclear Safety and Compliance Specialist to join our Conventional Safety Team. This exciting opportunity is designed for university students undertaking a 12-month placement, who will gain valuable experience in implementing our Safety Management System and driving continuous environmental improvements across the business.

The role sits within our Environment, Safety & Health (ESH) Function, responsible for supporting the government's strategy in nuclear technologies that keep the nation safe. You will be working alongside other safety professionals interfacing with facility operators and project managers as part of an integrated team.

This position is perfect for those looking to develop their understanding of key pieces of health and safety legislation applicable to us, including risk assessments and risk-based inspections. You will gain practical experience in delivering safety initiatives and contribute to driving safety improvements within operational areas.

In this role, you can expect to:

  • Develop an understanding of our Management System and gain practical experience of implementation in operational areas.
  • Gain experience of Risk Assessment and risk-based inspections in line with relevant legislation, industry standards and our policies, procedures, and guidance.
  • Pursue your career goals while gaining valuable skills and knowledge in nuclear safety and compliance.
