About the Role
The Flixton Road Medical Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team. As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our medical centre.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as directed by senior nursing staff and GPs.
- Conduct cytology and new patient medicals/urinalysis.
- Manage the travel clinic, including providing advice on vaccinations and administering vaccinations.
- Perform ECG recordings and present results to the requester.
- Manage chronic disease, including asthma, diabetes, coronary heart disease, and hypertension, within practice protocols.
- Administer depo injections and conduct pill checks.
- Request pathology tests, such as urine culture and swabs.
- Follow agreed clinical protocols and refer to senior nurses or GPs as necessary.
- Maintain and clean equipment used by nurses and GPs.
- Maintain GP and Nurses rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
- Maintain stock of waiting room leaflets as instructed by partners and Practice Manager.
- Order health promotion literature.
- Recognize and manage anaphylaxis according to current UK guidelines.
- Order stock from the hospital.
- Order vaccinations to maintain stock levels.
- Participate in administrative systems in the Practice.
- Maintain accurate records.
- Advise senior staff of potential problems or errors within the range of assigned tasks.
- Attend and participate in Practice meetings.
- Undertake home visits.
- Perform other delegated duties as appropriate.

Person Specification
- Registered General Nurse.
- Current NMC registration.
- Driving licence.
- Diploma or degree-level training in diabetes, CHD, asthma, or COPD (desirable).
- Registered smear taker (desirable).
- Experience of working within a nursing team.
- Experience of working in a GP practice (desirable).
- Long-term condition management experience.
- Vaccination and immunisation experience.
- Experience of using EMIS Web.
- Understanding of QoF.
