About the Role

Bowland Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and dedicated General Practice Nurse to join our dynamic team. As a key member of our nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of our practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform chronic disease management reviews to ensure patients receive optimal care and support.
  • Facilitate investigations such as venepuncture, spirometry, and 12-lead ECGs to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment.
  • Perform cervical cytology screening to promote women's health and well-being.
  • Administer routine and childhood immunizations to protect patients from preventable diseases.
  • Participate in activities to promote healthy lifestyles and improve uptake of screening services.
  • Conduct contraception and HRT reviews to provide comprehensive reproductive health care.
  • Maintain accurate medical records to ensure seamless patient care and communication.
  • Order and maintain practice stock of medical equipment to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Attend and participate in practice meetings and Primary Care team meetings to stay informed and contribute to decision-making.
  • Participate in quality improvement work to drive excellence in patient care and practice operations.
  • Facilitate teaching and training of staff to promote knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Participate in continuing professional development activities to stay up-to-date with the latest clinical guidelines and best practices.
  • Complete annual performance review to ensure ongoing growth and development.
  • Complete home visits where appropriate to provide personalized patient care.
  • Chaperone and assist in minor surgery and contraceptive services to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Person Specification

  • Registered General Nurse with current NMC registration.
  • Completion of cervical cytology smear taker course (desirable).
  • Relevant diploma or qualification in practice nursing (desirable).
  • Driving license (desirable).
  • Experience of working within a nursing team.
  • Experience of working in a GP practice (desirable).
  • Experience of using EMIS (desirable).
  • Chronic disease management experience (desirable).
  • Understanding of clinical governance (desirable).
  • Understanding of QoF (desirable).
  • Long-term condition management experience (desirable).
  • Vaccination and immunization experience (desirable).
