Job Overview

Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Geriatric Medicine Consultant to join our team of forward-thinking Ageing & Complex Medicine Consultants. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in delivering and developing our modern and comprehensive Elderly Care service.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, leading and participating in multidisciplinary teams, and contributing to the development of our Elderly Care service. You will work closely with our clinical director and divisional management team to build and develop your area of interest.

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with recent comprehensive experience in Geriatric Medicine, a CCT in Dual accreditation in GIM and Geriatric Medicine, and a strong commitment to training and teaching junior medical staff and other health professionals. You must be able to work in a flexible manner and demonstrate a proactive and self-motivated approach to your work.

What We Offer

We offer a 10 PA job plan, with the potential to negotiate additional PA's on an individual basis for the successful candidate. You will have access to excellent postgraduate and research facilities, support for study leave for CPD, and funding up to an agreed limit. We also provide training for two Specialist Registrars as part of the Northwest Training rotation, which includes an integrated MSc. course in Elderly Care medicine.

On-Call

Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
