Software Engineer for Climate Science

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at the University of Cambridge. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in climate science, working closely with researchers and scientists.
Job DescriptionThis role will involve developing and maintaining software tools and models for climate modelling, using a range of programming languages including Fortran, C++, C, and Python. You will work collaboratively with our team to design, implement, and test software solutions that meet the needs of our researchers.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, including experience with development and productivity tools. A good understanding of testing technologies and methodologies is also essential.
Experience in AI/Machine Learning, Climate Science/Numerical Modelling, or High-Performance Computing is desirable but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with a specialism in one or more of these areas.
Required Skills and Qualifications- Strong background in software engineering, including experience with development and productivity tools.
- Good knowledge of a programming language such as Fortran, C++, C, or Python.
- Experience with testing technologies and methodologies.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
