Essex County Council's Innovative Approach to Social Care
We are committed to providing flexible and supportive work environments for our social care professionals. Our nine-day working fortnight for full-time frontline social workers in Children's Services aims to promote work-life balance and improve overall wellbeing.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Social Services Professional to join our Family Support and Protection (FS&P) teams. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:
- Assessing Complex Social Care Needs: Conduct thorough assessments of families' social care needs and develop tailored support plans to promote positive change.
- Ensuring Statutory Compliance: Ensure adherence to legal frameworks for statutory intervention, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and families.
- Collaborating with Stakeholders: Work closely with various stakeholders, including partners and community groups, to provide comprehensive support to children and families.
- Developing Child-Centered Approaches: Design and implement child-centered approaches for early intervention, prevention, and independence, promoting resilience and positive outcomes.
- Influencing Inter-Agency Planning: Contribute to inter-agency planning and decision-making, influencing policy and practice to improve social care outcomes.
- Effective Communication: Communicate assessments and professional judgments clearly, both orally and in written reports, including court statements.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Recognised Social Work Qualification: A recognised social work qualification and current registration with Social Work England.
- Continued Professional Development: Commitment to ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with relevant competency frameworks and best practices.
- Experience in Challenging Situations: Experience in working with families in challenging social and family situations.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse groups and build strong relationships.
- Community Engagement: Ability to build strong relationships with partners and the community to achieve shared goals.
- Cost-Effective Interventions: Understanding of the balance between cost-effective interventions and meeting the needs of children and families.
- Risk Management: Demonstrated ability in clear decision-making to manage potential risks associated with interventions.
