This is an exciting opportunity to join Mid Family Centre as a Social Worker

Working together with partners delivering a range of early help, family support and effective social work interventions which build resilience, remove barriers and enable children and young people to look forward to a brighter future.

Family Centres

The Family Centre provides interventions to bring about positive change within families, help adults provide positive parenting, and increase the resilience of children so that they can stay with their families where it's safe to do so. Family Centre Social workers complete PLO and court directed parenting assessments. They also deliver a variety of group work and direct work to vulnerable children and their families across all services.

The Social Workers within the Mid Essex Family Centre Service are responsible for managing a caseload of specific targeted intervention work, to achieve positive and improved outcomes for children. The post holder is responsible for bringing to bear the highest possible standards of practice ability and skills to work in line with policies and procedures.

Whilst this will include investigation, assessment and purposeful intervention, the primary role within Children and Families is to achieve positive change within families wherever possible, with the aim of enabling children to remain within their home. This will be achieved through implementation of the Child Protection, Child in Need plan and achieving permanency for Children in Care.

The Experience You Will Bring

Diploma or degree in Social Work, CQSW, CSS or equivalentRegistration with Social Work England as registered Social WorkerDemonstrable capability of practice in accordance with current professional standards e.g. Professional Capability Framework (PCF), Knowledge & Skills Statement (KSS)Previous experience of working in children and families and high quality assessment skills which are transferable to undertaking parenting assessments.Demonstrate ability in the application of SW knowledge, using emotional intelligence, analytical skills and act with confidence in challenging social and family situations.A good working knowledge and ability to use information technology and related systems e.g. Word, SW case recording systemsRequired to work flexibly as required, including evenings and weekends if necessary.
