About the Role

The Bodleian Libraries at the University of Oxford is seeking a highly skilled Technical Research Officer to join our team. As part of our strategic development, we aim to increase our commitment to archiving web-based content, including social media data, algorithms, and other important resources.

This role will work closely with our Curatorial & Policy Research Officer to undertake the investigation work required by the project. The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about social media platforms and will be able to communicate a passion for documenting contemporary life as reflected in social media and algorithmic data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, deliver, and document the project's investigations
  • Use the project's research findings to support the practical aims of the project
  • Develop a roadmap for Bodleian services that reflects user and business requirements
  • Work independently and in a team to achieve project goals
Requirements
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Knowledge of techniques, tools, and standards applicable to social media data
  • Excellent IT literacy, including an aptitude for learning new technologies and standards
