Overview

As a key member of Aurora's Global Energy Markets research division, you will contribute to ongoing research initiatives and publications, develop innovative analyses, identify client requirements, and enhance our service offerings.

This role is pivotal for an Associate who will lead projects, engage with clients, and represent the organization in various forums. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead research initiatives in the European, Middle Eastern, and African energy commodity markets, collaborating closely with Aurora's modelling and power teams to generate regular market forecasts and innovative analyses.
  • Investigate key short- and long-term market trends and analyze policy developments in the gas, coal, and oil sectors, with a particular emphasis on EMEA.
  • Produce timely and rigorous quantitative analyses to aid clients' decision-making processes, including support for financial transactions related to energy assets.
  • Effectively communicate findings to clients through meetings, calls, workshops, and conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of Aurora's products by identifying new opportunities for intellectually stimulating and commercially relevant analyses, thereby expanding our capabilities and impact.
Qualifications

Essential Attributes:
  • A minimum of three years of experience in European natural gas, oil, or coal markets, acquired through roles in energy companies, commodity price reporting agencies, leading consultancies, energy trading firms, economic research institutions, or financial services.
  • Proven ability to gather, analyze, and interpret complex quantitative data.
  • Strong interest in energy markets and commodities, especially natural gas, oil, or coal.
  • Demonstrated success in project and process management within collaborative environments.
  • Experience in managing teams to deliver time-sensitive projects.

  • Exceptional written communication skills.
  • Fluency in English at a native or professional level.
Desirable Attributes:
  • Experience with or knowledge of Middle Eastern or African energy markets, focusing on natural gas, oil, or coal.
  • Proven success in client-facing roles.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Understanding of key financial metrics and economic principles (NPV, IRR, DCF).
  • Academic or practical experience in forecasting macroeconomic indicators.
  • First-class degree from a leading university in a quantitative discipline (Energy Science, Economics, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Engineering, Finance).
  • Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g., R, Python, GAMS, Matlab).
  • Relevant Master's degree or PhD.
  • Proficiency in a European language or Arabic, both written and spoken.
What We Offer
  • The opportunity to significantly influence major decisions in the energy sector.
  • Direct engagement with clients through conferences, workshops, and webinars.
  • The chance to develop into a publicly recognized industry expert.
  • A collaborative, informal, and international work culture.
