Job Summary

The Senior Care Assistant for Learning Disability will coordinate and lead on the Bromley by Bow Centre's day care service for adults with a range of abilities and needs, including those with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism, dementia, and mental ill health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the service and lead a small team of support staff, workshop tutors, volunteers, and student placements.
  • Ensure all current and newly referred individuals receive high-quality, person-centred support.
  • Lead and support training and development within the team and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to staff.
  • Develop activities in arts and creativity and in building life skills, including healthy eating, physical activity, money management, and digital skills, promoting independence, wellbeing, and inclusion within the community.
  • Establish and maintain good working practices with those accessing the service, their families/carers, and commissioners.
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote a positive, engaging, and promotional role with local authorities.
Requirements
  • Experience working with adults with complex needs and disabilities.
  • Strong leadership and coordination skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement person-centred support plans.
  • Knowledge of arts and creativity, and life skills development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
