Information Governance Officer Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Information Governance Officer to join our team at NHS Arden & GEM CSU. In this pivotal role, you will support the Senior Information Governance Manager in delivering Information Governance Services. You will assist in managing, coordinating, monitoring, and supporting the standards required within the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and advice to teams and senior management on complex issues and escalate as required.
  • Monitor and manage data protection incidents, breaches, and complaints, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks.
  • Assist with and coordinate the production, collation, and systematic returns and recording of evidence to support compliance with the DSPT.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and performance reports against key performance indicators, evidencing IG compliance and progress.
  • Take responsibility for the preparation of correspondence and complex papers as directed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in information governance, preferably within the NHS or a healthcare setting.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in working with the DSPT.
  • Good understanding of data protection and wider information governance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and advise staff at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Evidence of success in efficient and effective project management.
