Information Governance Specialist

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Information Governance Specialist to support the Senior Information Governance Manager in delivering Information Governance Services to NHS Arden & GEM CSU. The successful candidate will assist in the management, coordination, monitoring, and support of the standards required within the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Key responsibilities include ensuring continued progress against the standards, developing and implementing work plans to achieve year-on-year improvement, and providing guidance and advice to teams and senior management on complex issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage data protection incidents, breaches, and complaints, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to mitigate risks.
  • Assist with and coordinate the production, collation, and systematic returns and recording of evidence to support compliance with the Data Security and Protection Toolkit.
  • Create and maintain dashboards and performance reports against key performance indicators, evidencing IG compliance and progress, highlighting any issues to the Senior IG Manager.
  • Take responsibility for the preparation of correspondence and complex papers as directed.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in information governance, preferably within the NHS or a healthcare setting.
  • Proven ability to manage sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in working with the DSPT (Data Security & Protection Toolkit).
  • Good understanding of data protection and wider information governance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and advise staff at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Evidence of success in efficient and effective project management.
