Hastings Business Improvement District Job Description

Job Title: Business Improvement District (BID) Director

Compensation: $20,000.00 - $24,000.00

Hours: Average of 10-12 hours per week

Reports to: BID Board of Directors

POSITION PURPOSE: The Director will be responsible for the overall administration, financial management, and day-to-day work activities of the BID. The Director will report to and work with the BID Board to carry out the activities of the organization.

MISSION: Focusing on the development, redevelopment, maintenance, operation, and promotion of downtown Hastings.

VISION: The Hastings Business Improvement District is committed to work collectively to maintain, develop, and promote downtown Hastings.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage all administrative aspects of the BID, including updates to reflect new initiatives, project fundraising, record keeping, budget development, preparation and dissemination of all reports required.
  2. Maintain and expand BID/Downtown website and maintain and improve all aspects of downtown social media.
  3. Enhance and expand relationships with corporate, community, government, and institutional partners to carry out the BID organizational mission and objectives.
  4. Oversee all the necessary contracts or city services to maintain a safe, well maintained and clean environment within the downtown including but not limited to; landscaping services, plant and tree maintenance, pest control, garbage service and weed control.
  5. Oversee the annual property assessment process working with the City Clerk, City Treasurer, BID Board and City Council.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Bachelor's degree or a minimum three years practical experience in business, finance, planning, urban affairs/public policy, community development, historic preservation, or a related field preferred but not required.
  2. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  3. Strong financial oversight capabilities.
  4. Experience in fundraising and grant-writing process preferred.
  5. Strong computer skills using Microsoft's Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
