About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Relations Specialist to join our team at CRA GROUP LIMITED. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a vital role in delivering a first-class range of communications activity, focusing on contributing to key strategic communications campaigns and engagement work across a range of channels.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Provide media relations support, including responding to enquiries from the media, to ensure that our council's message is effectively communicated to the public.
  • Creative Projects: Work on several creative projects at one time, ensuring that all communications activity is evaluated to show its impact by creating, managing, and monitoring plans, and providing quantifiable data through a variety of methods to track the success of the activity.
  • Campaign Support: Support the Senior Communication Officers and Communication Leads in identifying and supporting the council's promotional campaigns, behavioural change programmes, and projects to maximise opportunities.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key staff within the organisation to identify and support opportunities.
  • News Agenda: Understand the news agenda both locally and nationally to ensure that the county council is exploiting every opportunity and reacting to the stories of the day.
Requirements
  • Communication Skills: Develop creative ideas and editorial across all forms of communication and editing input for a range of platforms.
  • Writing Skills: Write effectively for a range of audiences and communication channels, including for the web and social media.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently and make sound pragmatic decisions.
  • Workload Management: Manage and prioritise workloads effectively, in response to changing demands, and to meet deadlines.
  • Relevant Experience: Possess relevant degree, or equivalent qualification, e.g. NCTJ, or equivalent experience, and relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of processes, procedures, and policies associated with working within a demanding communications service.
  • Communication Methods: Have knowledge of communication methods, including social media, to effectively contribute to changing campaign objectives.
  • Media Landscape: Understand the media landscape and management of media-sensitive issues.
  • Political Landscape: Understand the political landscape and politically sensitive issues.
  • IT Skills: Possess sound and accurate IT knowledge, e.g. Microsoft Office, to accurately analyse information/data.
