Rental Income Support Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Rental Income Support Officer to join our team in East London. This tenancy management role will involve maximizing income from a portfolio of rent accounts while providing excellent customer care to residents.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage rent accounts for a patch of tenancies with Assured Shorthold Tenancies
  • Maximize £8.5m of rent payments and sustain tenancies
  • Manage approximately 700 rent accounts, including parking bay license accounts
  • Visit residents to identify issues, complete follow-up actions, and refer to other teams for resident satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Neighbourhood Officers and external organizations like Advice Agencies and debt advice agencies
  • Make phone calls and complete home visits, with most contact through home visits
  • Make and monitor agreements with residents to repay rent arrears
  • Maximize Universal Credit take-up and provide early intervention for residents transitioning from legacy benefits

Requirements:
  • Comprehensive understanding of housing, Welfare Reforms, and Assured Shorthold Tenancies legislation
  • Experience in income management in private or social housing environments
  • Knowledge of welfare benefits policy and legislation
  • Experience in making sustainable arrangements for residents to repay rent arrears
