About the Role

The SHEQ Director is a critical leadership position responsible for the effective management and implementation of the company's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Systems across Ireland and the UK. This role requires a strong leader who can drive a pro-active HSE approach, champion best practices, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Develop and maintain a strong safety culture within the organization, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the company's HSE strategy, aligning with KTL's values and goals.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on HSE policy and legislation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Champion best practices and drive behaviors consistent with company policies through proactive engagement with staff.
  • Ensure that staff well-being initiatives are integrated into the HSE plans.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the HSE department.
  • Plan and implement training programs to address the four main safety risks: driving, electricity, working at height, and plant.

Systems Management

  • Develop and maintain the company's HSE, Environmental, and Quality Management Systems, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, 45001, 9001, and 27001 standards.
  • Implement an effective corrective action process to address non-conformities and ensure continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate, update, and develop new and existing HSE documentation to ensure accuracy and relevance.
  • Ensure adherence to the PMO system for calibration and inspection of all equipment.
  • Develop and implement an audit schedule to monitor adherence to HSE systems and identify areas for improvement.

Governance

  • Maintain an effective HSE governance process, including regular reviews, record-keeping, and closure of agreed actions.
  • Coach and develop the team of HSE Officers and Advisors to support Project Leaders.
  • Analyze HSE data and prepare and communicate trends and reports to stakeholders.

Training

  • Develop and manage a company-wide training program to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and KTL's values.
  • Prioritize, budget, monitor adherence, evaluate effectiveness, and align with KTL's goals.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge of HSE and ISO systems, with the ability to distill best practices across the company.
  • Passionate about delivering HSE compliance and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Able to engage with and influence key stakeholders, including senior management and employees.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Results-driven leader with a proven ability to drive process improvements.
  • Data-driven decision maker with the ability to analyze and interpret HSE data.
  • Willing to travel within Ireland and the UK as required.
  • Self-starter who can operate effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced organization.
