Job Overview
Acorns Children's Hospice Trust is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Practice Educator to join our team. As a key member of the Care Education Team, you will play a vital role in delivering training and education to clinical teams across our three hospices.

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced educator who can develop and deliver high-quality educational programs that meet the needs of our clinical teams. Your primary responsibility will be to support the development and delivery of an education plan that aligns with our organization's strategy and workforce development goals.

Main Duties
The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the Lead Practice Educator and Deputy Director of Care- Quality Assurance to develop and deliver an education plan that supports Acorns' strategy and workforce development.
2. Ensure compliance with all mandatory training requirements.
3. Act as the Resuscitation Officer for Acorns, developing and maintaining own skills as required for this role.
4. Support Registered Managers in the onboarding of new starters (permanent and bank).
5. Collaborate with clinical teams across Acorns and externally to develop and deliver educational opportunities to ensure competence and confidence in complex care.
6. Work with clinical teams to ensure clinical competency and skills development to support delivery of evidence-based care, including the ongoing development and review of the Acorns clinical competency process.
7. Demonstrate our caring value by ensuring a responsive and flexible service that reacts to the changing needs of individual children and families and reflects the learning needs of staff and volunteers.
8. Develop/identify, deliver, and evaluate digital and face-to-face learning packages to meet identified learning needs, including bespoke clinical skills such as train-the-trainer sessions.
9. Use the Acorns digital learning platform to monitor and analyze training and report on compliance.
10. Act as a central point of contact to universities to enable student placements across Care Services and support the teams to mentor students, updating and cascading relevant information and resources as required.
11. Support the setting up of honorary contract arrangements and support individuals on placement at Acorns or externally.
12. Be courageous and act as a positive role model demonstrating professionalism, accountability, and leadership to others and fostering a culture that promotes innovative learning and encourages reflection while challenging poor practice.
13. Work collaboratively and attend/lead appropriate internal and external meetings and workgroups as agreed.
14. Ensure appropriate links with research and governance to support safe and effective service.
15. Maintain own clinical skills through identified learning opportunities in liaison with the line manager.
16. Support the provision and facilitation of clinical supervision and reflective learning across all sites.
17. Maintain professional registration through revalidation.
18. Be curious and use research and professional networking to advise on changes in clinical practice and contribute to policy development.
19. Maintain knowledge and awareness of safeguarding and ensure appropriate steps are facilitated through effective multi-professional agencies.

Person Specification
We are looking for someone with the following qualifications and experience:

Qualifications
Essential:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent or working towards
- Registered Healthcare Professional
- Evidence of Continuing Professional Development
Desirable:
- EPALS instructor
- Recognised qualification in Education / teaching

Experience
Essential:
- Experience of creating, delivering, monitoring, and evaluating clinical training activities using blended learning
- Experience of supporting the change process
- Knowledge of Safeguarding children
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team in a healthcare setting
Desirable:
- Experience of liaising with Colleges/Universities
- Advanced respiratory skills
- Experience of Paediatric Palliative Care
- Experience of delivering care to children with complex needs and disabilities
- Experience of working with children with complex care needs

Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is approximately £41,500 per annum, depending on experience. Location and Working Arrangements
This position is based at one of our three hospices in the West Midlands. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet the needs of our patients and their families.
