Child Protection Specialist Job Description:

This role involves safeguarding children and young people, identifying risks, and managing those risks. It also encompasses other statutory duties and responsibilities of Children's Social Care.

About the Job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced social worker to work with children and families in need of protection and support. The successful candidate will have a strong background in child protection and experience in managing risk assessments and developing plans for vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Risk Assessment and Management: Identify and assess risks to children, develop strategies to mitigate these risks, and provide ongoing support to ensure the child's safety and well-being.
  • Alternative Home Placement: Secure and support alternative homes for children, including those in and beyond public care, ensuring that their needs are met and they receive the necessary support.
  • Comprehensive Needs Assessment and Planning: Undertake comprehensive needs assessments and develop plans for outcomes, reviewing and updating these plans as necessary to ensure the best possible outcomes for the child.
  • Criminal Justice and Child Protection Investigations: Conduct specialist assessments within the Criminal Justice arena, including assessing needs and risks and undertaking child protection processes and investigations.

Requirements:

  • UK Social Work experience: 3 years
  • Social Work England Registration
  • The right to work in the UK
  • An Enhanced DBS issued within the past 12 months
