About the Role

Syntech Recruitment Ltd is currently working exclusively with a niche Logistics and Transportation company who are looking for an HR Advisor to join their team in offices on the outskirts of Reading. This company is a leader in their field and the role offers immense opportunity to learn and progress, have support with professional training and be part of an extremely passionate team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Employee Life Cycle Management: Manage all aspects of the employee life cycle, including onboarding, performance management and off-boarding.
  • Relationship Building: Build strong working relationships across the business, delivering value-added services to management and employees.
  • HR Guidance: Provide HR guidance and support to management where necessary.
  • Policy Development: Develop, implement and improve HR policies and procedures that comply with UK legal requirements.
  • Recruitment Management: Oversee the full recruitment process, including job descriptions, adverts and interviews.
  • Contract Management: Manage contractual paperwork, including offer letters and contracts of employment.
  • Employee Records: Maintain employee records and update HR systems.
  • Payroll and Absence Management: Administer employee payroll and absence management.
  • Reporting: Produce HR reports as required.
  • Training Delivery: Deliver training programmes to Managers on HR practices and procedures.
  • Project Management: Design and work across HR projects.
  • Investigations and Employee Relations: Manage investigations and complex employee relations issues including redundancy and grievance.
  • Performance Appraisal: Monitor and develop performance appraisal systems.
  • Market Research: Gather and evaluate market data to measure the organisation's competitiveness for salary reviews, compensation and benefits packages.


About You

  • HR Experience: 4-5 years working in HR at Advisor level, preferably in an SME.
  • IT Skills: Strong IT skills - Microsoft Office suite.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail/accuracy/confidentiality.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Well-developed interpersonal skills.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills (written & verbal).
  • Organisation Skills: Excellent organisation skills - able to prioritise.
  • Logistics Experience: Experience gained in logistics/commercially focused business (desirable).
  • Employment Law: Comprehensive understanding of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to a changing environment and remain calm under pressure.
  • Collaboration: Collaborative and pragmatic approach to work.
