About the Role

Bloomberg is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Product Owner to join our Company Financials team. As a key member of our Consumer Discretionary & Staples team, you will be responsible for developing and executing the commercialization strategy for the Consumer sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive Data Strategy: Bring deep expertise of the Consumer sector and datasets to drive Bloomberg's data strategy, ensuring it meets the needs of our clients.
  • Marketing and Sales: Develop and execute marketing efforts to promote product developments, including sales campaigns, webinars, news, and social media.
  • Data Quality: Take ownership of the quality of our Consumer data, ensuring it is fit-for-purpose for clients.
  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with global colleagues and partners, including Product, News, Bloomberg Intelligence, Sales & Analytics, Data Governance, Engineering, and external clients.
  • Mentorship: Mentor the global Consumer team on industry trends, financial modeling, large and complex data projects, and business initiatives related to the Consumer industry.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Business, or related field.
  • Experience: 4+ years of professional work experience in Data Product Ownership or related field.
  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the mechanics of the Consumer Discretionary & Staples industry or a sub-sector, ability to quantify trends impacting the industry, and ability to provide analysis that can shape commercial decisions.
  • Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of financial statement analysis, financial modeling, and industry analysis, as well as data management principles and technologies such as data modeling, data analysis, and statistics.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency using scripting languages (preferably Python) to query and interrogate datasets, and experience using data visualization tools such as QlikSense and Tableau.
  • Project Management: Proven track record of effective project management and meeting deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Education: Master's degree in relevant field and/or CFA designation (or working towards it).
  • Industry Expertise: Familiarity with Consumer analytics data and available industry statistics from sources such as Bureau of Labor Statistics, Industry Associations, and Second Measure.
  • Bloomberg Products: Experience or knowledge in Bloomberg Company Financials products, Bloomberg terminal fluency, and/or Bloomberg data workflows.
  • Statistical Methods: Experience using statistical methods, programming, and machine learning approaches to promote and measure data quality and generate insights.
