Job Title: Learning Support Assistant

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Boston. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with SEMH needs, helping them overcome learning barriers and promoting their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to build confidence and achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to develop and implement tailored learning activities that cater to the diverse needs of our students.
  • Use your calm and patient approach to manage challenging behavior, creating a safe and nurturing environment for all students.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their emotional and social development, and promoting a sense of belonging within the school community.
  • Work closely with the teaching team to ensure seamless support for students, both in and out of the classroom.
Requirements:
  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, Health and Social Care, or a related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs, preferably in an SEMH or special school setting.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a thorough understanding of child protection policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A calm and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable students, with a focus on providing consistent and nurturing support.
