Key Responsibilities:

Fostering Positive Relationships:
Building trust and rapport with students is fundamental.

Support assistants should cultivate a caring and supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves and seeking assistance.


Implementing Behavioural Strategies:
Support assistants often aid in executing behavioural strategies as outlined in individual support plans. This may include employing techniques such as positive reinforcement, de-escalation methods, and conflict resolution skills.
Providing Emotional Guidance:
Students with special educational needs may require additional emotional support.

Support assistants should be compassionate listeners, offering encouragement and reassurance to help students navigate challenges and develop resilience.


Encouraging Inclusion:
Support assistants promote inclusivity by facilitating student participation. They may work alongside educators to adapt activities and assignments, ensuring accessibility for all learners.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience in an educational or care setting, particularly supporting individuals with learning disabilities.
  • Adaptable, patient, and resilient.
  • Relevant qualifications in education or special needs support are beneficial but not mandatory.
  • A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
