About the Role

Hales Group is seeking a skilled and compassionate Temporary Supported Housing Officer to join our team on a temporary basis for 3-6 months. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting residents in the East Suffolk area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of individuals who have experienced a housing crisis, providing a service that ensures they build up the life skills and resilience to prevent future homelessness.
  • Develop trusting relationships with clients to improve their confidence and motivation, enabling them to find their own solution to their housing need.
  • Refer clients to other service providers where necessary or request assistance from the wider team and other specialist services.
  • Liaise with landlords regarding tenancy-related matters, such as potential breaches of the tenancy agreement and potential legal action.
  • Attend court hearings to provide evidence and represent our client as needed.
  • Conduct home visits to investigate households' circumstances and provide support.
  • Have a good understanding of the issues affecting housing affordability, including benefits, benefit tapers, welfare reforms, employment, and geographical trends.
Requirements
  • Substantial experience of working with statutory and voluntary organizations in a Housing Related Support context, specifically rough sleeping.
  • Experience of working with complex and challenging caseloads/individuals.
  • Ability to carry out thorough and comprehensive assessments and make decisions about referrals to the service, using standard professional tools.
  • CIH Level 3 Diploma in Housing Practice (BTEC Level equivalent).
  • Flexible and willing to work outside of normal working hours.
  • Full Driving License and access to a car to attend business meetings at other sites/locations within the district on a regular basis.
