Job Title: Supported Lettings Officer

Hales Group Limited is seeking a skilled and compassionate Supported Lettings Officer to join our team on a temporary basis for 3-6 months. The successful candidate will work with vulnerable households in the East Suffolk area, providing support and guidance to ensure they can manage their tenancy and contribute positively to their community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Case Management: Manage a caseload of individuals who have experienced a housing crisis, providing a service that helps them build life skills and resilience to prevent future homelessness.
  • Relationship Building: Develop trusting relationships with clients, understanding their complex needs and providing non-judgmental support to improve their confidence and motivation.
  • Collaboration and Referral: Refer clients to other service providers when necessary and work with the wider team and specialist services to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Tenancy Support: Liaise with landlords regarding tenancy breaches and potential legal action, working towards saving the tenancy and attending court hearings as needed.
  • Home Visits: Conduct home visits to investigate households' circumstances and provide support as required.
  • Knowledge and Understanding: Have a good understanding of housing affordability issues, including benefits, benefit tapers, welfare reforms, employment, and geographical trends.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Substantial experience working with statutory and voluntary organizations in a Housing Related Support context, specifically with rough sleeping.
  • Complex Caseloads: Experience working with complex and challenging caseloads/individuals.
  • Assessment and Decision-Making: Ability to carry out thorough assessments and make decisions about referrals to the service, using standard professional tools.
  • Certification: CIH Level 3 Diploma in Housing Practice (BTEC Level equivalent).
  • Flexibility: Flexible and willing to work outside normal working hours.
  • Transportation: Full Driving License and access to a car for business meetings at other sites/locations within the district.
