Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced midwife to join our Continuity Midwifery Team as a Continuity Midwife Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality antenatal and postnatal care to women and their babies, working in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and provide care to women and their babies throughout the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans, taking into account the unique needs and preferences of each woman.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care and effective communication.
  • Provide education and support to women and their families, promoting healthy behaviors and empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures that promote best practice in midwifery care.
Requirements
  • Registered Midwife with current NMC registration.
  • Proven experience in antenatal and postnatal care, with a strong understanding of midwifery principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with women, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaborative practice.
  • Computer literate and able to use electronic patient records and other healthcare systems.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Postgraduate qualifications in midwifery or a related field.
  • Experience of working in a continuity of care model, with a strong understanding of the principles and practices of this approach.
  • Leadership and management skills, with experience of supervising and mentoring junior staff.
  • Knowledge of computerized maternity systems and experience of using these systems in a clinical setting.
