Job Title: Band 5 Midwife

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Band 5 Midwife to join our team at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our maternity services, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to women and birthing people throughout their pregnancy journey.

Job Summary

As a Band 5 Midwife, you will be responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing programs of care for patients assigned to you. You will work collaboratively with a dynamic team to provide safe, clinically effective, and individualized care. Depending on your choice and allocation of preceptorship pathway, you may provide care as part of the wider outpatient service, including community and continuity settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess, develop, and implement programs of care for patients assigned to you.
  • Provide care to bereaved patients and their relatives, breaking bad news and supporting other staff undergoing this process.
  • Communicate effectively with multi-disciplinary professionals and agencies, ensuring seamless care at a high standard.
  • Take appropriate action to ensure the safety of patients, including the delegation of patient care to midwives with the appropriate level of skill at all times.
  • Report any accidents/incidents to the Ward Manager/Team Leader and/or Supervisor of Midwives.
  • Ensure that midwifery procedures/guidelines are implemented and maintained in accordance with the policies of the Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and national guidance.
Requirements
  • Current, effective, and up-to-date registration with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Proven experience in all areas of midwifery practice.
  • Proven experience of delegation of workload when looking after a caseload.
  • Able to work in a team, think clearly under pressure, and provide leadership and support to junior members of the team.
  • Able to deal with exposure to bereavement and challenging behavior.
